Food: When I first walked in and I saw a poster of a woman eating the pan fried bao with juice squirting out of the bao, I did not believe it. HOWEVER, every single bao I ate, I felt the rich juice popping out of the bao! It's indeed one of the best baos I've tasted in SoCal. I'd give it 5/5. Service: It's your typical Chinese auntie's restaurant, so if you know you know. I was a little shy speaking my broken mandarin, but when she said "HAH??" For the third time I knew I had to speak louder. Overall, I'd give the service 2/5. But again, I knew I'm here for the food, not the service. Ambiance: The ambiance is a your typical Chinese joint. Reminded me of 2000s school cafeteria vibe! Overall, I would come back to get more of their baos. Def going to try their rice plates next time since it is stated on of their menu that it's only about 10 bucks for a 3 items rice plate. So, until next time KANG KANG!

Authentic Chinese canteen style restaurant that reminds me of my school cafeteria back in the late 90s and early 00s. Do not expect gourmet Chinese food, neither will you get Panda Express style fast food. Instead what you get is a subtle balance between authentic Chinese food people in China have every day, and affordability. The food items in the trays are all what I am familiar when growing up in Shanghai. From the premade trays, I would recommend steamed egg, spicy beef, pig ear (cold dish), whole tilapia (if you are ok seeing a fish head), and fatty pork belly. I also often get Sheng Jian Bao (bottom pan fried dumpling with pork fillings). They taste very legitimate and almost the same as the food back in the hometown.

No frills, generous serving size. Bento combo orders don't even include the rice in the box (comes separately included in combo order), which means more space for the actual meat/veggie dishes! Coming from the bay, this spot was the spot we beelined to straight from the LAX airport. As a Chinese American, this spot was approved by my entire family as authentic and value for money. We ordered in Mandarin, but noticed that staff also speak English fluently. Sheng jian bao's were also so. good. Highly recommend.

I come here just for the Shanghai Pan Fried Baos! I've tried this dish at a lot of other places and no where else seems to beat this place when it comes to this dish. The skin of the bun isn't too thick, there's a perfect amount of pork filling, and it's pan fried to perfection with the bottom being a little crispy and the top still being soft. Be careful when eating this dish, the pork buns are filled with hot soup so it can ooze out when you bite into it!! I've burned my tongue and/or spilled soup onto my clothes multiple times. The ambience and service is the same as a Chinese fast food so don't expect anything fancy. However, don't let that stop you from stopping by and trying the pan fried buns!

We ordered the Shanghai pan fried bao (Sheng jian bao) and it's one of the best I've ever had! It tastes like home to me! The flavor is fantastic and we drove about 20 minutes back home and it still remained toasted on the bottom and warm. We tried to call ahead to place an order through the phone, but they don't pick up. However, we ordered when we got there and only waited about 15 minutes for 2 orders of Sheng Jian Bao and an order of the Beef Green Onion pancakes. There's also a parking lot and lots of seating available too.

This place is a small hole in the wall joint. I wanted to come back here and actually sit down so We finally had that chance last night, it did not disappoint! I did forget to get the meal items Which I told myself To get next time. Their 4 item combo is $11! Such an amazing deal! We ordered 2 baos, fried rice, noodle soup and leek/pork dumplings and 3 drinks that came up to $84. I thought the price was not bad for everything we got. It was a lot of food and we even had left overs. If you have not been reading the others reviews before mine, you come here for the pan fried baos. They are amazing!! Amazing!!! And don't skimp out on asking for their chili oil cause it's bomb! It's more of a paste than an oil tho but I love it! Their beef noodle soup was good. It was all delicious and we enjoyed our meal. When you talk about the next time you come back before your meal is over... it's def a must try!

We came here with a group after a kids sporting event. Got here around 12pm on a Sunday and there was a line to order food. Like a typical hole in a wall Chinese restaurant, it's not a place with fancy decor or ambiance. It's known for the juicy sheng jian bao from many mainstream media outlet. Sheng jian bao is a must order item. I wanted to try the beef roll but didn't get to order it this time. I also got a 3 item combo with soup for about $9. Talk about an affordable meal! There are about 30 home cooked dishes to choose from. You can just point to the item you want to order. There is a service change for credit card payment so be aware. They also change fees for tea/service per person that's not included in tip when you eat in. Which I'm ok with since they keep the food price so low. After you order and pay, get a number and find your own table. The restaurant is overall clean but doesn't feel super clean. The sheng jian bao are very juicy as advertised. The 3 item combo I ordered was delicious. The seaweed egg drop soup that came with the combo was just so so. But I didn't expect much for it anyway. Overall it's a no frills hole in a wall spot with good food. It'd be great for takeout.
